As one of the few truly
independent consulting organisations in the field of telecommunications
cabling, The Cabling Partnership is able to provide services to
both the supply- and client-sides of the industry.

The Cabling Partnership
is able to provide a range of services to client-side organisations
such as:
premises
owners;
tenants;
specialist
(e.g. IT) consulting organisations;
general
(e.g. M & E) consulting organisations.
.
The
Cabling Partnership is pleased to provide a wide range of services
to the client-side of the industry covering the selection and specification
of cabling infrastructures, the quality assurance of their installation
and effective administration of their operation.
All the products and services
provided are founded on direct involvement in standardisation of
telecommunications (IT) cabling via both the formal standards bodies
(BSI, CENELEC and ISO/IEC) and industry bodies such as the FIA and
TIA-B. |

Those who do not fully and/or correctly specify
their infrastructure are certainly at risk if a dispute arises as
they may have no recourse open to them. However, even where the
specification has been correctly defined there will be occasions
when controversy arises.
The Cabling Partnership is able to undertake technical
and contractual audits against its own Installation Specifications
or against those produced by third parties.
Typical areas requiring audit are balanced and
optical fibre cabling performance and the quality of installation
procedures. Audits can also be extended to cover reliability-related
issues such as cabinet design/layout and the effectiveness of operating
controls in the procurement and utilization of the channel components
(patch and equipment cords etc.).
.
Trade associations including the FIA offers Arbitration
Schemes to its members and their clients. Where they cannot be applied,
The Cabling Partnership offers its own Arbitration Scheme to provide
technical advice and support where there is a dispute relating to
work undertaken or products provided to a client by a third party.
A decision to use the Arbitration Service requires
prior agreement by both parties involved that they will accept the
final decision of The Cabling Partnership.
.
This is an extension of the Arbitration Scheme
and is, fortunately, only offered when a strict legal involvement
is necessary. Mike Gilmore, Senior Partner, has acted as an Expert
Witness for both supply- and client-side organisations.
Reports are prepared in response to legal instruction.
Hopefully such matters can be settled out of court.

The Cabling Partnership
is able to provide advice to users in the very early phases of installation
design. This type of service includes the analysis of competing
cable and connecting hardware solutions and products together with
the restrictions on their use (based upon current and forthcoming
standards). The proposed installation practices are reviewed with
particular regard to any impact on other building services such
as the architectural design and mains power installations.
Once the basic decisions have been taken, The Cabling
Partnership creates highly detailed technical and operating specifications
for the telecommunications cabling infrastructures. The design of
such infrastructures tend to be based on standards including ISO/IEC
11801, (BS) EN 50173 series standards and ANSI/TIA/EIA-568-B involving
both balanced and optical fibre cabling technology.
The construction of the specifications is based
upon the requirements of BS 6701:2004 ad EN 50174-1. |
The Cabling Partnership
is willing to undertake the adjudication of tender submissions either
independently or as part of larger multi-disciplinary teams.
The adjudication of tenders is simplified by the
presence of comprehensive Installation Specifications within the
tender documentation. However, The Cabling Partnership is able to
provide support whether or not we have been involved in the development
of the Installation Specification. |
The Cabling Partnership undertakes project management activities
either independently or as part of larger multi-disciplinary teams.
The Cabling Partnership is able to offer a spread of project management
services ranging from random site visits, providing a sample based
audit function, during the course of the installation process
through to a full-time presence which monitors the progress of
the installation on a day-to-day basis.
